Let Your Light Shine

During Halloween season, we cut off the tops of pumpkins, pull out all the goop, carve a design into the side, and place a candle inside to shine in the darkness.

This seems to me a perfect picture of what God desires to do within our hearts. If we will allow, He will gently clean out the seeds of hurt, wounds, anger, distrust, lust, insecurity, guilt, etc. Basically, anything within us that would prevent His light from shining through our lives.

Unless we invite the Great Physician to perform this open heart surgery, we can never experience freedom from the muck that weighs us down and holds us captive to our own destructive attitudes and behaviors.

"Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
